InfluxDB announced expanded time series capabilities across its product portfolio with the release of InfluxDB 3.0, the company’s rebuilt database and storage engine for time series analytics.

“InfluxDB 3.0 is a major milestone for InfluxData, developed with cutting-edge technologies focused on scale and performance to deliver the future of time series,” said Evan Kaplan, CEO at InfluxData. “Built on Apache Arrow, the most important ecosystem in data management, InfluxDB 3.0 delivers on our vision to analyze metric, event, and trace data in a single datastore with unlimited cardinality. InfluxDB 3.0 stands as a massive leap forward for both time series and real-time analytics, providing unparalleled speed and infinite scalability to large data sets for the first time.”

The solution was originally developed as the open-source project InfluxDB IOx and was built in Rust. It was then rebuilt as a columnar database that leverages the scale and performance of the Apache Arrow data structure to deliver real-time query responses.

Users can also benefit from unlimited cardinality and high throughput to continuously ingest, transform, and analyze billions of time series data points, low-cost object store, and SQL language support.

The new version is available now in InfluxData’s cloud products, including the fully managed service InfluxDB Cloud Dedicated. InfluxData also announced InfluxDB 3.0 Clustered and InfluxDB 3.0 Edge to give developers next-gen time series capabilities in a self-managed database and InfluxDB 3.0 will be available in these products later in the year.

The LF AI Foundation announced the Open Neural Network eXchange (ONNX) is its newest graduate level project.

ONNX provides AI capabilities like model creation and export, visualization, optimization, and acceleration capabilities.

“ONNX will retain its existing OSI-approved open source license, its governance structure and their established development practices,” said Ibrahim Haddad, executive director of the LF AI Foundation. “We are committed to providing ONNX with a host of supporting services especially in the area of marketing and community events to extend its reach and adoption.”

InfluxDB Cloud 2.0 now available in Europe
InfluxData announced the availability of its Cloud 2.0 in Europe. Influx DB Cloud 2.0 is a serverless times series platform-as-a-service.

“The instrumentation of everything, from software systems to factories and home appliances, has generated an enormous flood of high-velocity data that can be harnessed for powerful innovations. We built InfluxDB Cloud 2.0 to provide developers and organizations with a platform that supports the data demands of the future,” said Evan Kaplan, CEO of InfluxData.

InfluxDB Cloud 2.0 provides customers with real-time observability into their systems and is able to support a wide range of customer applications. Current customer use cases include SLA-related monitoring around key business metrics for e-commerce sites and real-time monitoring of wind turbines for business insights to refine operations, according to the company in a post.

IBM joins the Stanford Human-Centered AI Institute Partner Program
IBM Research announced that it is the first founding corporate partner of the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence.

As part of the partnership, IBM said it will work closely with fellow AI thought leaders, researchers and innovators at Stanford and through participation on the HAI Corporate Advisory Committee, and IBM researchers will also work alongside Stanford researchers as part of the Visiting Scholars program.

The three key areas of AI research include trusted artificial intelligence, natural language processing (NLP) and neuro-symbolic computation.

Topcoder releases Talent-as-a-Service model
Technology network and on-demand digital talent platform Topcoder launched a Talent as a Service (TaaS) model that allows enterprise teams to scale quickly with resources from around the world.

“There’s really no war for talent, but more of a ‘persistent blind spot’ in innovative technology talent acquisition. Highly skilled technologists from around the world have never been more accessible,” said Michael P. Morris, global head of crowdsourcing at Wipro Limited. “The key is figuring out how to find, attract and connect that talent with companies that need them most, and then creating project opportunities too attractive to be dismissed, as well as loyalty programs that keep them coming back.”

The full details on the new model are available here.

Google has released a new tool called GAPID, which stands for Graphics API Debugger. The tool will be able to help developers diagnose both rendering and performance issues within their applications. It enables them to go through each graphics command one by one to visualize how the final image is built and pick out problematic calls. This results in less time spent doing trial-and-error debugging, according to Google.

“Developing for 3D is complicated. Whether you’re using a native graphics API or enlisting the help of your favorite game engine, there are thousands of graphics commands that have to come together perfectly to produce beautiful 3D images on your phone, desktop or VR headsets,” Andrew Woloszyn, software engineer for Google, wrote in a post.

InfluxData becomes a member of the Eclipse Foundation
InfluxData has announced it is now a member of the Eclipse Foundation and the Eclipse IoT Working Group. Many Eclipse products already use InfluxDB as their datastore, so this move will allow InfluxData to make those products even better, according to the company.

“The Eclipse Foundation is excited to have InfluxData joining, and agreeing to participate in the IoT Working Group,” said Mike Milinkovich, executive director of the Eclipse Foundation. “Many of the IoT projects rely on InfluxDB already, so having InfluxData as a member and direct participant in these efforts will only enhance the overall adoption of Eclipse IoT projects.”

RAD Studio 10.2.2 is released
Embarcadero has released version 10.2.2 for RAD Studio, Delphi, and C++Builder, offering improved ease of use for those tools. Features include an extensive repository of components and code, a code source that natively compiles across platforms, out-of-the-box VCL Windows GUI controls, FireMonkey QuickEdit capabilities, and more.

StreamSets Control Hub is now available
StreamSets has announced the availability of the StreamSets Control Hub, which adds DevOps to data movement architectures. It addresses the challenges of a trend towards time-sensitive data movement that requires analytics to be performed at every step in the process. New features include a hosted dataflow designer, automated deployment and execution of dataflows via Kubernetes, and more.

“We have seen our Fortune 500 customers incur substantial effort and pain as they hand-craft solutions that operationalize their StreamSets dataflow architectures, scaling to hundreds of thousands of pipelines in scope,” said Girish Pancha, CEO of StreamSets. “An operational mindset across the lifecycle is required for modern analytic applications to succeed. We built StreamSets Control Hub to provide a focal point for dataflow management so that businesses can accelerate time to value for their data-driven applications.”
